I read the latest issue of the Eco-Advantage Strategies newsletter. Although I think the CEMEX example is great, it's rather old...from 2001, right? CEMEX actually doesn't have the best reputation for corporate responsibility performance among cement/aggregate companies. CEMEX USA has also been running into serious permitting/facility siting issues out on the West Coast. I don't think their approach to stakeholder engagement is quite there yet.

I'm glad you wrote in about this, because it brings up two important points about what Im attempting here. First, even companies without a great sustainability story may have elements of their operations that are worth looking at and copying (a major finding of Green to Gold). Second, theres something I may not always make clear , while we call this a newsletter, I make no claims about reporting the news. Im trying to find themes and strategies across stories , some may be from last week, others from last decade. Some case studies have a long shelf life, as I believe the Cemex story does.
