Johnson Controls' New Branding Effort Touts Innovation, Sustainability

Oct. 1, 2007 - Industrial giant Johnson Controls has unveiled a new corporate identity that reflects its vision of "a more comfortable, safe, and sustainable world."

"Each of our businesses plays an enormously important role in making life better and easier in the places where people spend most of their time," says Stephen A. Roell, who officially became the company's CEO today. "Whether it's through comfortable and safe automotive interiors, or advanced systems for energy efficiency and security in buildings, or vehicle battery systems that help to protect the environment, Johnson Controls is uniquely able to provide our customers with what we call 'smart environments' ingenious solutions that are welcomed by the marketplace."

The new company slogan, "Ingenuity Welcome," is designed to have two meanings, says Denise Zutz, vice president of strategy, investor relations and communications: first, that the company recognizes that people welcome innovation in products and services, and second, that Johnson Controls is a company looking for people with great ideas.

A new global advertising campaign is slated for early 2008.
