Mercedes Pushes Sustainability in New Global Ad Campaign

Oct. 31, 2007 Mercedes-Benz is launching an international advertising campaign on the theme of sustainability, timed to coincide with the introduction of its low-emissions Bluetec passenger vehicles in Europe. The first printed advertisements using the new brand design will feature the E 300 Bluetec, to be launched in Germany in December 2007.

Daimler's Bluetec technology aims to reduce diesel exhaust emissions, particularly nitrogen oxide.

In our marketing campaign on sustainability we promote innovative technologies for environmentally sound mobility, says Dr. Klaus Maier, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Mercedes. We at Mercedes-Benz think in a holistic manner and therefore examine the complete value chain, which means a focus on creating a sustainable foundation for all development, production, and service activities."

Mercedes has dubbed its environmental technology program "TrueBlueSolutions." The new ad campaign, also under the TrueBlueSolutions heading, will consistently feature the color blue as a metaphor for clean air, Mercedes says.

Mercedes launched its first Bluetec passenger car in the U.S. in October 2006. Mercedes says it plans to offer three more Bluetec models in the U.S. market beginning in 2008.
