Absolut Vodka Launches "Global Cooling" Climate Campaign
Jan. 17, 2008 -- Absolut Vodka has unveiled a nationwide ad campaign encouraging consumers to take simple daily steps that help minimize their carbon footprint. The multimillion dollar Absolut Global Cooling campaign, launched in partnership with the Live Earth Film Series, will span multiple channels from bars and nightclubs to film festivals and private events.
Absolut Global Cooling kicks off in February with a yearlong promotion called "Every Sip Makes a Statement," in which consumers may register their Absolut products online to support one of three approved environmental nonprofits. Absolut will donate $1 per registered code for a bottle or cocktail of Absolut, Absolut Citron, or Absolut Mandrin. Consumers are also invited to make a donation online.
As the official sponsor of the Live Earth Film Series, Absolut will release short films on the effects of global warming at more than 70 festivals across the U.S. The series will begin with five films to be showcased at the Sundance Film Festival Jan. 18 through 24. (View the films online here.)
"Absolut boldly embraces finding a solution to the climate crisis by inspiring consumers and the hospitality industry to move from thought to action," says Ian Crystal, brand director of Absolut Vodka. "Through our partnership with the Live Earth Film Series and other compelling promotions, events and marketing components, we are afforded a unique opportunity to influence consumers to enjoy a social lifestyle while having a real impact on global warming."
