Audi Launches “Green Police” Social Media Campaign
January 28, 2010 – Audi, the largest luxury car brand in Europe, has created and launched a social media campaign leading up to their national super bowl ad airing on February 7th. The campaign is headlined by a series of YouTube videos featuring the Green Police, as well as the Audi A3 Turbo Diesel.
The Green Police, whose mission is to “protect and serve the earth” star in videos that are pitched as satirized Public Service Announcements (PSA’s), teaching citizens how to behave more sustainably in 50 seconds or less. The videos also include an interactive quiz, drawing consumers into a more participatory experience than static media.
While the video’s do not feature any Audi products – the release of a new Green Police Video during the Superbowl will feature The Audi A3 Turbo Diesel, named Green Car Journal’s 201 “Green Car of the Year.” Leading up to the launch, some athletes will also be driving the vehicle to Miami from Virginia, Audi Headquarters, competing in the Audi Efficiency Challenge. The winner will receive $20,000 for the charity of his/her choice.
