GM Backs Green TV Network

May 22, 2008 - General Motors has signed a deal to become the exclusive automotive sponsor behind Planet Green, the first green-lifestyles TV network.

GM is planning to air a series of two-minute ads on the network that feature company execs discussing current environmental projects.

"Planet Green programs will attract consumers who also want to know what GM has to offer in terms of fuel-efficient cars and trucks, hybrids, and alternative fuel vehicles," says Betsy Lazar, the automaker's advertising and media director. "It's a great way for GM to educate and inform consumers about all we are doing in the area of sustainable transportation."

GM's Chevrolet division is sponsoring the new network's 13-part documentary series on the tornado that struck Greensburg, Kansas, last year. GM vehicles will also feature occasionally in Planet Green programming.

Planet Green will hit the airwaves on June 4.
