Puma Trains Key Suppliers on Sustainability Reporting
June 3, 2010 – Puma, in partnership with the Global Reporting Initiative, will begin working with 20 of their key suppliers in South East Asia on how to design and track their social and environmental initiatives, as well as assisting them in issuing individual sustainability reports starting in 2011.
Twenty strategic PUMA suppliers based in China, Vietnam, Cambodia and other countries – which produce together more than two thirds of all PUMA products consumed – will receive GRI certified training on transparent measurement and reporting on their sustainability performance using the GRI G3 Guidelines.
The goal of the joint project is to create full transparency throughout Puma’s supply chain, to ensure social and working conditions are equitable in all supplier facilities. The reporting initiative provides the metrics necessary to reveal what has already been achieved and where more work is necessary.
PUMA’s mission is to become the most desirable and sustainable sport-lifestyle company and it has implemented a long-term sustainability program throughout all its operations. To read the latest PUMAVision report, outlining their sustainability programs and vision, visit their website.
