Toshiba Medical Systems to Shift Entire Delivery Fleet to Hybrid

Oct. 10, 2007 Toshiba America Medical Systems (TAMS) has announced plans to replace the companys entire fleet of sedans for its sales and service teams with hybrid cars over the next three years.

Toshiba has chosen the Toyota Camry Hybrid to replace one-third of the current gas-only fleet each year. The first set of hybrid cars is scheduled to arrive in November.

The company says it expects the new hybrid fleet to reduce company CO2 emissions by 25,000 pounds and save up to $4,000 in fuel costs over the life of each vehicle.

The hybrids will take us closer to our goal of reducing emissions in logistics from company cars and freight by 1% each year,ƒ†â€™ƒÂ¢¢â€šÂ¬…¡ƒ¢â‚¬Å¡ƒâ€š‚ says Paul Biggins, head of the TAMS Environmental Affairs Committee.

Toshiba Corporation has set a global goal of reducing its CO2 emissions by 25% and its non-CO2 greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2010.
