Oct. 22, 2007 Online business travel service GetThere has introduced new tools aimed at helping companies track and reduce carbon emissions from employee business trips.

GetThere Green lets corporate clients embed a carbon calculator into their booking process to track and compare carbon emissions associated with various routes. The service offers a range of calculators based on various algorithms so that companies may select the one that best fits their green policy and employee base.

GetThere has also begun designating environmentally responsible air, auto, hotel, and rail suppliers as Green Partners, which can be highlighted on the screen as travelers review trip options.

Finally, the site provides anonline messaging service to enable those responsible for booking trips to compare notes in real time.

Last week, GetThere earned a Project Icarus Environmental Award from the nonprofit Institute for Travel Management (ITM) for its green innovations in the business travel industry.
