New England Patriots to Buy Renewable Energy Certificates

Nov. 13, 2007 The NFL's New England Patriots will buy enough renewable energy certificates to match electricity usage at Gillette Stadium for all of its pre-season, regular, and post-season home games.

"The New England Patriots organization is committed to reducing our collective carbon footprint," says Jonathan Kraft, president of the New England Patriots and The Kraft Group, which owns the team.

Constellation NewEnergy, which has had a power agreement with Gillette Stadium since 2003, will secure the credits.

"Given the national prominence of the Patriots, this significant action sets a terrific example for other companies and businesses preparing to introduce renewable energy into their portfolio as part of an overall strategy to address climate change," says Michael Kagan, president of Constellation NewEnergy.
