Allstate's Carbon Offset Program a Hit with Drivers

Aug. 8, 2008 - After a successful pilot in Colorado and Ohio, Allstate is expanding its program to offset drivers' auto emissions by funding reforestation and clean energy projects in the U.S.

Under the Allstate Green program, launched last November, the insurer contributes $10 to local conservation programs for each of its members in participating states.

The company is also taking 5% off premiums for customers who choose to enroll in its direct debit plan, which eliminates paper statements.

The program will be extended to Washington, Oregon, Louisiana, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, and Kansas.

"The positive consumer response to our Colorado and Ohio tests reaffirms our belief in the strategy of designing services and products around the consumer," says Roger Parker, assistant VP of product innovation. "Making it easy for customers to save money and help the environment is the ultimate win-win."
