AMD, Roche, Xerox Honored for Climate Leadership
Dec. 6, 2007 Advanced Micro Devices, Roche, and Xerox have earned top honors from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for their emissions-reduction efforts as part of EPA's Climate Leaders program.
Participants Climate Leaders must perform a companywide inventory of greenhouse gas emissions, set "aggressive" reduction goals, and provide an annual progress report to the EPA.
AMD, Roche, and Xerox each met their original goals for greenhouse gas reduction and followed up with new targets for further cuts.
- AMD, which met its initial goal to reduce emissions 53% per unit of production, now aims for an additional 33% reduction by 2010.
- Roche Group has cut emissions 11% from 2001 levels and will extend that reduction to 15% by 2010.
- Xerox is targeting a 25% reduction from 2002 levels by 2012. The company recently achieved its initial goal, reducing emissions 18% by 2006.
