Burt's Bees Pays Its Employees to Go Carbon Neutral
March 3, 2008 - Burt's Bees is subsidizing employee purchases of renewable energy certificates, the [Raleigh] News & Observer reports. The North Carolina-based company says it will offer matching grants of up to $100 each to help its workers offset their carbon footprint at home.
The carbon credits, sold by San Francisco offset provider 3Degrees, support wind energy projects in the U.S. So far about 30 Burt's Bees employees are participating in the program.
Burt's Bees has committed $25,000 annually to support wind energy production and offset its energy use.
