Dec. 3, 2007 Dell has become the first IT company to join the Supply Chain Leadership Coalition (SCLC), providing its suppliers with a new framework for monitoring and reporting their carbon footprints.

A program of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), SCLC offers suppliers a standardized method of reporting greenhouse gas emissions data and other climate-related information, such as emissions reduction targets and overall climate strategy. The standard is based on CDP's carbon-disclosure questionnaire.

Dell began requiring suppliers to report emissions earlier this year.
