Dec. 13, 2007 Land Rover Portland has become the first U.S. car dealership to provide a carbon offset program for its customers. For every new and used Land Rover sold, the dealership will offset carbon emissions for 50,000 miles driven.

Unlike many business-sponsored carbon offset programs, which offer customers an option to add a contribution above and beyond purchase price, Land Rover Portland will automatically make a donation to The Conservation Fund with each purchase.

Donations will support The Conservation Funds Go Zero program, which restores native tree species in permanently protected areas.
