Race Car Designer Building Greener Car for the Masses
Sept. 17, 2007 Race car designer Gordon Murray has turned his attention from luxury supercars to creating a compact, fuel-efficient urban vehicle for the masses, BusinessWeek reports. The new Type 25, which may sell for as little as $10,000, is built with lightweight materials and a downsized frame designed to carry just three passengers.
The green attributes of the new vehicle extend from performance to production. The Type 25's tiny size will help shrink operating costs by one-third, Murray estimates. In addition, the production process has been retooled to limit carbon emissions during manufacture.
