Strap-On Hybrid Kit Coming This Fall

July 25, 2008 - Soon you may be able to turn your non-electric vehicle into a hybrid simply by attaching an electric motor to your car's back wheels. The new Poulsen Hybrid system can convert any car into a hybrid by strapping two 7-horsepower electric motors to a vehicle's rear wheels.

The device supplies additional power during the first 20 to 30 miles of a given car trip. The conventional combustion engine helps with vehicle startup, acceleration, and hill driving.

The system works equally well with rear- or all-wheel drive vehicles, gasoline or diesel, the company says.

The Poulsen Hybrid system is expected to hit dealer installers later this year. Find more information here.
