Textile Technology Dyes Without Water
July 24th, 2009 - A California-based textile company, Colorep, is using air to push dye into textile fibers instead of the traditional dyeing method which requires gallons upon gallons of water.
Colorep claims that the AirDye technology uses no water and less energy than other methods. Currently, it only works on synthetic fibers like polyester, and is only being used in the United States. Patagonia has a U.S. factory installing the technology now and Colorep hopes to have European sites by the end of the summer and Central American locations by 2010.
