Honda to Seek LEED Gold for Two More U.S. Plants
Nov. 8, 2007 American Honda Motor Company says it will pursue the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Gold certification for its Acura Design Studio in Torrance, Calif., and Midwestern Consolidation Center in Troy, Ohio.
The certifications, planned for FY2009, would double the company's holdings of LEED-certified plants in the U.S. Honda currently operates LEED-certified plants in Raymond, Ohio, and Gresham, Ore.
The company says it also plans to re-certify its Gresham facility to LEED-EB (Existing Building) standards to "ensure the facility continues to operate in an energy efficient manner." The Gresham facility was the first mixed-use industrial building in the country to earn LEED-Gold certification.
