June 17, 2008 - Advanced Data Centers (ADC) is pouring $100 million into a state-of-the-art green datacenter that the company says is already generating big buzz among corporate clients keen to save on IT energy costs, Sacramento Business Journal reports. The 66,000-square-foot datacenter near Sacramento, Calif., has already earned Platinum pre-certification from the U.S. Green Business Council - the highest rating available. The facility will be equipped with advanced airflow systems designed to reduce power needs by as much as 30%.

The savings will be passed along to the Fortune 1000 firms who rent server space at the facility, according to ADC. "In some cases, we're 75% less than a comparable solution," says company president Michael Cohen.

ADC reports that its clients are already expressing "tremendous interest" in the new datacenter. The green facility could be the first of many - ADC is already in talks to buy land for additional computing sites in the western U.S.
