Dell Unveils Greenest PC to Date
July 31, 2008 - Dell has launched what the company is calling its "most environmentally responsible consumer PC" yet - a desktop whose CPU takes up 80% less space and uses 70% less energy than comparable models.
With its smallest desktop, the Studio Hybrid, the company has addressed environmental issues in its design, operation, and packaging.
In addition to being Energy Star 4.0 compliant, Dell has made the packaging for the Studio Hybrid more environmentally responsible. Highlights include:
- Reduced packing materials about 30% by weight as compared to typical tower desktops.
- Packing materials are also 95% recyclable.
- Reduced printed documentation 75% by weight on average as compared to typical tower desktops.
The product also comes pre-equipped with a system recycling kit to account for disposal at end of life.
And for those wanting to flaunt their green credentials, the Studio Hybrid comes with an optional external finish made of eco-friendly bamboo.
The Studio Hybrid is now available online and will be in stores later this fall.
