Fujitsu Targets Retailers for New Green IT Products
Jan. 16, 2008 Just days after IBM announced a similar initiative, Fujitsu Transaction Solutions has launched a program aimed at promoting green IT solutions to retailers. Dubbed "Pervasive Green," the initiative touts greener versions of products such as self-checkout scanners and point-of-sale systems.
"We want environmental responsibility to reach all parts of the retailing industry, and will develop and promote retail technology products that not only improve a retailer's operations and bottom line, but improve their environmental footprint as well," says Ed Soladay, chief operating officer at Fujitsu Transaction Solutions.
In December, parent company Fujitsu Limited unveiled a companywide program aimed at reducing the environmental impact of IT infrastructure and minimizing customers' IT footprint.
