Sept. 24, 2008 - Datacenter specialist Migration Solutions has launched a new green assessment service that aims to provide a "360-degree view of the environmental impact and performance of datacenters."

The company’s new Environmental Report and Audit (ERA) examines ten key sections of a datacenter’s infrastructure, including construction of the datacenter and the surrounding building, its power and cooling management, the layout and technology deployed, the way its operated, and the corporate policies that it applies.

As energy costs rise, IT managers are looking for guidance on ways to reduce power consumption - and tech companies are rushing to fill the void. IBM, for example, recently launched a consulting service to help companies assess the effectiveness of their green IT policies.
