New Power System Safeguards IT Operations Using 75% Less Energy

March 24, 2008 - CyberPower, a manufacturer of battery-powered backup systems for IT equipment, has introduced a new uninterruptible power supply (UPS) technology that draws 75% less energy than similar products.

UPS systems are typically used to safeguard IT equipment from data loss in the event of a power failure, meaning they must remain on at all times. CyberPower's new GreenPower UPS saves energy by bypassing the system's automatic voltage regulation (AVR) and transformer when it is in idle mode.

The company developed the new product in response to growing customer demand, according to Pete Miesen, CyberPower's director of VAR channel development. “An energy-efficiency design has become one of the top factors customers are considering when comparing UPS products,” he says.
