Loews Hotels Adopts "Buy Local" Policy

Feb. 23, 2009 - Loews Hotels & Resorts has launched a companywide purchasing initiative to support local farmers, fishermen, and small-scale food suppliers.

Under the new "Adopt-A-Farmer" program, each of Loews' 17 hotels in the U.S. and Canada will work with area producers to develop "seasonally inspired, regionally responsible" menus at all of the company's dining facilities.

Loews says it is the first in the hospitality industry to adopt such a policy across its entire property portfolio.

Most Australia hotels have already adopted this idea already. Why import when you can buy from local stores? This will help the economy of the region and will keep the business afloat offering the real experience of the area.
