Office Depot Offers New Tech Recycling Service
Oct. 16, 2007 Office Depot has launched a nationwide in-store recycling program for unwanted electronics equipment.
The company's new Tech Recycling Service lets customers purchase recycling boxes to fill with their old or broken electronics and bring back to the store (unsealed) for mailing. The boxes, prices at $5, $10, and $15 depending on size, include shipping and handling fees.
Accepted items include computer monitors, small televisions and printers, keyboards, digital cameras, and cords and cables, among other technology products.
Office Depot currently offers free recycling programs for cell phones, rechargeable batteries, and ink and toner cartridges.
In 2004 Office Depot, along with Hewlett-Packard and the U.S. EPA, launched a free three-month recycling drive that brought in a total of 10.5 million pounds of electronics.
