AVC Brings Sustainable Packaging to China

Jan. 28, 2008 -- Packaging manufacturer AVC Corporation has opened its first plant in China. The facility, in Guangdong province, will create sustainable packaging solutions for the growing number of suppliers that must meet new green guidelines for their products.

"We saw this change to environmental packaging coming and started our plant in China two years ago," explains Moshe Begim, president of AVC Corporation. "We offer a total packaging solution for clients with products made in China who want to package there."

AVC's custom green-packaging solutions are first designed in the U.S. After approval, the design is sent to AVC-China to produce the tools, form the plastic, and do the printing.

Begim notes that many suppliers are facing deadlines for greener products and packaging imposed by big box retailers in the U.S. Wal-Mart's supplier packaging scorecard, for example, will take effect Feb. 1.
