JohnsonDiversey Expects 160% ROI on Climate Spending
Sept. 12, 2008 - Cleaning products giant JohnsonDiversey has joined the U.S. EPA's Climate Savers program, pledging $19 million toward emissions reduction efforts that the company expects will save $31 million over the next five years.
The company - the first in the cleaning industry to join Climate Savers - has vowed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 8% below 2003 levels - an 89,000-ton reduction.
To achieve its goal, the company plans to switch its global shipping fleet to fuel efficient and alternative energy vehicles. It will also install on-site alternative energy sources, such as wind turbines, and upgrade the energy efficiency of its manufacturing plants as part its pledge.
JohnsonDiversey recently announced that its new floor-finishing system has helped customers save more than 71,000 gallons of water since June.
JohnsonDiversey cites customer demand as a key reason for the company's ongoing efforts to green its products and operations.
"Our customers all over the world are asking us to be their partner in developing solutions to reduce their environmental impact," says Ed Lonergan, president and CEO. "Our goal is to not only practice sustainability in all we do, but also to help our customers become more sustainable in their operations."
The company's water management consulting services helped food and beverage customers save more than a billion gallons of water last year.
