Major Corporate Law Firm Launches Climate Practice
July 21, 2008 - Law firm Thompson Hine has created a new practice to advise corporate clients on the fast-changing regulations and emerging business opportunities surrounding climate change.
Thompson Hine's new Climate Change and Sustainable Business Solutions group will work with clients from a variety of sectors, from manufacturing to electricity and power, to understand how evolving energy markets are affecting their industries.
"Climate change is rapidly emerging as an important and complex policy area, and current and expected legislation will have far-reaching effects on many companies," says Andrew Kolesar, co-leader of the group. "Our climate change team will help our clients stay abreast of new developments and opportunities."
Thompson Hine is just one of many U.S. law firms looking to get in on the green act: Amid fierce competition for business, firms are greening their own operations in an effort to reflect the changing values of prospective clients. In November, Nixon Peabody became the first U.S. law firm to appoint a chief sustainability officer.
