March 18, 2008 - Travelers has expanded its insurance coverage for mid-sized businesses that own commercial real estate. The company's enhanced Deluxe Property Coverage promotes the use of environmentally friendly building materials as replacement components following a covered loss.

The new plan covers higher initial costs and longer periods of restoration for green buildings, expenses for re-engineering or recertifying green buildings, and vegetative (or "green") roofs.

“Travelers believes that commercial property owners who embrace green technologies are likely to be more risk management-minded, practicing greater care in building maintenance and operation,” says Michael Klein, president of commercial accounts at Travelers.
