Intel, Verdiem Help Businesses Boost Energy Efficiency Across PC Networks
Sept. 19, 2007 A new hardware-software combination will allow IT managers to more easily monitor energy performance across entire PC networks even if the power is off or its operating system is down.
Software developer Verdiem has announced that its award-winning Surveyor power-management software will now support Intel's vPro processor technology, enabling businesses to manage their PC power states and settings more effectively. IT managers will be able to transition systems to low power states during non-peak times but maintain the ability to provide maintenance and patching when necessary, according to the company.
Our partnership with Intel gives technology managers the ability to actively maintain their remote networks while increasing energy efficiency at the same time, says Kevin Klustner, Verdiems CEO.
Verdiem says it will eventually collect and pull energy usage data from vPro systems and prepare reports that measure and aggregate their energy usage.
