What Does Sustainability Mean for a City Destroyed?

New Orleans is the proverbial tale of two cities. Uptown & downtown are renewed and thriving while more than 250,000 homes remain a loss, as lives and the future of communities hang in the balance.

15-years before Hurricane Katrina, Gerard Braud predicted the catastrophic flooding and destruction of the city. This former environmental reporter and Fellow of Environmental Communications will serve as your guide.

Youll get the latest update on the citys recovery, discuss the environmental, social and economic future of the region, and view first hand Katrinas destruction as you tour the infamous Lower 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish.

Registration and introductory lecture: 9:00am
Tour Departs: 10am
Return to Ritz Carlton: 12:30pm

Cost for this experience is $99 if you register before September 5th, $129 through September 23rd, and $149 up through the day of the tour.

Participate ËœHands-on in the Rebuilding of NOLA!

Nothing is quite as satisfying as putting your shoulder in to something and actually being able to see an immediate result for your efforts. Habitat for Humanity continues as a leading organizer of volunteer efforts that support the ongoing rebuilding effort in New Orleans, and the results of their efforts can be seen every day as one by one they help rebuild the more than 250,000 homes still awaiting reconstruction. They need our support! SLM has arranged for interested conference attendees to join Habitat for Humanity and be part of the solution. If you or your team are interested in joining ours on Saturday, the 29^th, please indicate your interest on the conference registration form and well be in touch! Corporate Sponsorships of this experience are being sought. 50% of donated sponsorships will go directly to Habitat for Humanity.

Registration is required to participate with your peers in this volunteer effort, though of course there is no charge.
