What is the Sustainable Brands Conference?

Sustainable Brands is where top brand leaders, product designers, sustainability executives and the network of experts who serve them meet to discuss sustainability as the new frontier for driving revenue growth and enhancing brand equity. Widely reputed to be the most compelling conference launch of the year, Sustainable Brands '07 convened a who's who of sustainable brand leaders and learners committed to sustainable brand innovation. What's New for Sustainable Brands '08?

Location! We are thrilled to announce that Sustainable Brands '08 will be held June 2 - 5, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, CA. This unique destination provides attendees the opportunity to get away from the hubbub of the city and focus on learning from and networking with both experts and peers who are on the same learning journey. The Monterey/Salinas corridor is leading the way in many aspects of sustainable fishing and agriculture, and is a skip away from Silicon Valley -- long a global center of innovation, and already playing a leading role in innovation for sustainability.  With this epicenter of sustainable innovation as a backdrop, come learn with leaders and joing the ranks of those who are positioned for growth by responding to the unique needs of the 21st Century world.

Increased networking opportunities! This new venue opens up a world of possibilities for networking, both organized and informal. Some will be familiar to those who attended SB07, and many will be new. Begin with Opening Night where you'll be inspired and challenged to think out of the box for the new year, then enjoy a lovely outdoor reception featuring the best of California's local, sustainable food, wine and other surprises. Birds of Feather Dinners, and the Post Conference Volunteer Day. Continue with a new thread of facilitated conversation groups where you'll connect with peers who are struggling with similar issues and have the opportunity to share learning and even co-create new solutions.  Cap it off with a Gala celebration of Wlrd Environment Day with an inspiring evening being planned with Fabien Cousteau and others, followed by a private evening of food and wine in the Monterey Aquarium.  There's more in the works, but networking is not all we're focusing on. 

New Inspiration and Learning in three distinct new curriculum tracks. You asked, we're responding. Look for more great case studies and expanded break-out sessions on:

  • Brand Opportunities and Drivers will explore market forces that are creating the need and opportunity for sustainable brands. Topics will include up to the minute global market and consumer research, growth opportunities by market sector, emerging investment screens for sustainability, current and expected legislation, NGO activities and continuing stresses on the natural world itself and where these are causing opportunity for profitable product innovation.

  • The Brand Inside will focus on breakthrough product design and business model innovation across market sectors. Also discussed will be organizational change and the impact of corporate culture and internal communication on brand, multi-sector partnerships, the importance of supply chain management and monitoring, internal goal setting and metrics, and more.

  • The Brand Outside will help brand leaders determine how authentically position and communicate their company's sustainability story in today's changing purchasing environment. Experts will be on hand to share best practices and advice on when to talk, and how much to say about sustainable business initiatives, as well as how to effectively manage a productive and unique brand conversation in today's digital world.

The Sustainable Solutions Showcase! (or S3 as we like to call it.) "Walk the walk," "Practice what you preach," "Be authentic." Even if you're just beginning to investigate sustainability, we bet you've heard those pearls of wisdom. Here's your opportunity to catch up with innovators helping companies like yours go green. A fantastic speaker roster, great stories, best practices, and networking in a business friendly, collaborative learning environment. Brand executives from across industries and sectors come together to present their case studies and discuss what they're learning on their journey. Sustainability is a journey not a destination, and SB08 will be another marker along the path.
