Calculating Your Company's Carbon Footprint: It's Harder Than You Think?
Our interview with Trucost's Mike Wallace on calculating carbon emissions relative to revenue sparked a lively exchange between Mike and reader Mark W. McElroy, executive director of the Center for Sustainable Innovation, who began:
"[Trucost's] approach to measuring carbon footprints, contrary to its claims, only goes to show how not simple such footprint measurements are....Who cares what [a company's] emissions are relative to revenue?...What matters is emissions relative to ecological contsraints, and/or emissions relative to (or as an indicator of) investments aimed at mitigating such emissions."
