Wal-Mart's "Sustainability 360"
Last August Rand Waddoups, Wal-Mart's senior director of corporate strategy and sustainability, introduced us to "sustainability 360" — the company's name for its very ambitious (and very public) drive toward environmental and social responsibility. Little did we know that Wal-Mart was just getting started. The retail giant recently hit its sales goal of 100 million energy-efficient CFL lightbulbs three months early, thanks in part to the higher visibility and increased shelf space afforded its private-label CFL brand. Wal-Mart Leans on Suppliers to Make Greener Laundry Detergent
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has pledged to sell only concentrated liquid laundry detergent at its U.S. Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores, saying it aims to act as a "catalyst for the transformation of the entire liquid laundry detergent category across the retail industry and save vast amounts of natural resources."
