Half of Wal-Mart Suppliers Still Foot-Dragging on Packaging Scorecard

Half of Wal-Mart suppliers missed the Feb. 1 deadline for completing the retail giant's Sustainable Packaging Scorecard, and the percentage hasn't improved much since then, the [Arkansas] Morning News reports. Many suppliers argue that the scorecard oversimplifies the manufacturing process and puts undue financial burdens on the supply chain. Read more...

More than half of finance executives believe sustainability can help their companies increase revenue, reduce operating costs, build shareholder value, and improve employee retention, according to a new survey from Jones Lang LaSalle. Thin Clients Help Businesses Cut Computing Costs 81%
Thin clients - computers than concentrate processing activities for many networked machines on a central server - can slash energy costs per workstation by as much as 81%, according to new research from the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany. Given that thin clients currently account for just a fraction of commercial desktops, the potential for savings is actually much greater, the study suggests. Read more...

Under increasing pressure to report on climate management practices, more companies are turning to a standardized framework for publishing emissions data. Well over half (63%) of Fortune 500 corporate responsibility reports released last year align their climate communications with guidelines set out by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, according to a new study from CorporateRegister.com.
