Legion Launches Green Paper Classification System
Sept. 20, 2007 Legion Paper, a North American supplier of fine art paper, has launched a new online search engine that classifies its paper into five categories: Alternative Energy, Chlorine-Free, Handmade Papers, Mill Certification, and Tree-Free. (via Environmental Leader)
The new green site was developed in direct response to customer demand, according to Joshua Levine, CEO of Legion Paper.
"Many of our customers rely on legionpaper.com for their projects and we are continually asked about the specific 'green' qualities of our papers. With our new interface...anyone can easily find all the eco-friendly characteristics of our papers instantly."
The company notes that the paper industry tends to focus on green papers that are wood-based and/or made from recycled materials, leaving out many alternative paper products including 100% cotton papers, papers made from cork, mulberry, and handmade papers all of which can be manufactured without cutting down any trees.
