Chemical Supplier Makes Business Case for Greener Manufacturing

March 21, 2008 - Chemical supplier SI Group has unveiled a new program to deliver customized, environmentally preferable products for manufacturers. The program, dubbed StrategicGreen, aims to "help manufacturers think beyond compliance issues to realize additional business benefits" of using greener chemicals.

SI Group's program emphasizes how incorporating environmentally preferable chemicals into manufacturing processes can help companies achieve key strategic goals, such as improved workplace safety, lower energy costs, and the possibility for creating new, more eco-friendly consumer products that help expand market share.

"There is incredible potential for manufacturers to satisfy the demands of eco-sensitive end-users," says Paul Tilley, senior vice president at SI Group. "We can help companies seize this opportunity by developing concepts that will redefine existing products lines or help to create entirely new product categories."

SI Group has created a microsite that enables prospective customers to fill out an online worksheet describing their specific technical and environmental-compliance challenges. The company says it will respond to each submission with "ways to turn these challenges into a strategic advantage."
