May 23, 2008 - Continental Airlines has launched an online tool to help companies calculate - and offset - the carbon footprint of their cargo shipments.

Continental's new Cargo Emissions Calculator enables users to enter cargo weight and origin and destination information to estimate total carbon emissions, which they can then choose to offset through project partner Sustainable Travel International.

"We have the most fuel-efficient fleet among U.S. network carriers - why hide from carbon issues?" says Jack Boisen, vice president of Continental's cargo division. We are going to take a leadership position and make it as easy as possible for shippers to work with us.
