May 9, 2008 - A company called Water Vend is pitching a vending machine that filters tap water and pours it into reusable sports bottles supplied by customers.

The Azure vending machine removes chlorine and other impurities from tap water and chills it for sale. Customers can purchase either purified water or choose to add flavoring to create sports drinks or teas, or carbonation to make club soda.

The Azure uses LED lighting and flash water-chilling technology, which help conserve electricity. It also operates without releasing carbon byproducts or wastewater into the environment, according to Water Vend.
