Office Depot Launches Green Office Products Line

April 9, 2008 - Office Depot has launched a dedicated green brand of office supplies ranging from recycled-content paper to non-toxic cleaners to compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs). The new Office Depot Green line is the first such private-label brand of environmentally preferable office products to be offered by a major retailer.

"At Office Depot, we are dedicated to improving our own sustainability as well as that of our customers, vendors, and suppliers," Chuck Rubin, president of North American retail for Office Depot, said in a statement. "The introduction of a new Office Depot Green line builds upon our corporate commitment to increasingly buy green, be green, and sell green."

The launch comes soon after Office Depot earned middling grades in a ForestEthics/Dogwood Alliance report on paper sourcing policies in the office supplies industry.

Office Depot Green products are currently available in stores and online. Office Depot also publishes an annual Green Book catalog of environmentally preferable products carried by the retailer.
