Staples Copy Centers Switch to FSC Recycled Paper

March 12, 2008 - Office products giant Staples is now using recycled-content paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) as the standard copy paper at its 1,400 Copy & Print Centers throughout the U.S. The copy paper - Staples' own brand - is sourced from sustainable managed forests and contains 50% post-consumer recycled waste content.

Staples has set a goal to move the majority of paper products it offers to FSC-certified paper by the end of 2010. The company has already increased to 30% the average amount of post-consumer recycled content in its paper products.

Last month, Staples cut ties with Singapore-based paper supplier Asia Pulp & Paper amid environmental concerns over the company's forestry practices.
