Xerox Mandates FSC Certification for In-House Customer Services
Sept. 9, 2008 - Xerox Canada says it will use only paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) when it sends its own employees to manage clients' document processes on site.
Nearly all of the company's customer facility sites have been internally and externally audited to ensure the on-site printing services are compliant with Xerox's standards, the company says. All participating suppliers in the manufacturing process are managed by a common database system to guarantee that Xerox's FSC-labeled products throughout the world contain raw materials solely from certified sources.
Xerox says it anticipates the certification will be a feature that attracts customers working to achieve accountability throughout their supply chain.
The company is seeking to make a name for itself in greening corporate print functions, offering its clients a range of environmentally preferable paper, toner, and printing software. In March, the company released a free online calculator to help customers pinpoint ways to green their office printing and copying.
