Safeway Converts Entire U.S. Truck Fleet to Biodiesel

Jan. 18, 2008 -- Supermarket giant Safeway has converted its entire U.S. fleet of more than 1,000 trucks to run on B20 biodiesel, a blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel. The company estimates its converted fleet will save 75 million pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere each year.
